Photo Session Pricing and More

{about my photography}

My photography varies greatly from department store photography. Prices reflect this. Before you contact me to set up a session, please learn about my style and consider whether I’m the right photographer for you.

I invest a great deal of time and talent in your family’s images through planning, purchasing and hauling props, shooting, editing, and uploading your generous gallery. When we meet for your session you can expect a relaxed, “chill” atmosphere where I capture your personalities.

Please don’t fret about forcing smiles, looking into the camera, or posing. It’s my job as photographer to direct you as I see fit. What I see and what you see are  two very different things. I’m looking at light, expressions, connections. I ask that you trust me and just relax.

{about my clients}

My clients are fun, laid back, creative, cool, and open to new ideas when it comes to portraits. They let me take ideas and run with them, and refer me to their friends but secretly want to keep me to themselves. They come back each year with bigger kids and bigger families. They hand me an old quilt and say, “Can you work this in somehow?” I love that. I honor my clients by providing generous galleries that they can download and keep forever. I want my clients to have every precious shot.

{reasons why you should consider booking me early}

I’m a mom of three and a full time reading teacher. Photography is my part-time love; a hobby that I turned turned into a business in 2010 to supplement my income and allow me to grow creatively as a photographer. When someone asks, “How do you do it all?” I chuckle and tell them the truth. I don’t. I book photo sessions only two weekends a month during the school year, and sometimes I’m offering only one session on any given weekend. I don’t ever  like doing more than one session a day, and as a rule will not book another session on a day where there is one already.

Summertime I open up a bit more and throw in a weeknight here and there too for seniors. But not too many, because I like to have  plenty of time in between sessions so I can really focus (pun intended) on my clients’ individual needs. It’s how I avoid burnout and stay true to myself.

When you contact me to book a session, I will send a client agreement for you to read, sign, and return with your session deposit. I ask that you read this carefully, so you understand fully what to expect before, during, and after your session. When your payment is received, I will confirm your booking date and time via email. Your agreement will have legal details about your session, like what is included and what my policies are, and how you can download images and order prints. Your remaining balance is due the day of your session.

During the winter months I scale back considerably, shooting only newborns and indoor family lifestyle session as long as the family has ample natural light in their home. I do have minimal artificial lighting available for newborn sessions if need be, but I prefer to travel light. Spring, summer and fall sessions are all shot outside, except for newborn sessions. I have learned that hauling backdrops and lighting is more work than I physically am capable of doing. So simply put, I don’t do that anymore.
